Agganis Arena at Boston University set up for rowing

Tyler at the 1700 meter mark. 300 to go and in the lead!
Finally - it's over. New PR! Worth all the effort.
In his first competitive rowing competition, Tyler of Littlefield's Gym and CrossFit Central Maine set a new personal record for the 2000m row! Putting in your best performance at the World Indoor Rowing Championships is a good idea and Tyler was up to the test rowing a 6:51.3 and placing 79th out of 190 entrants in the extremely competitive Junior Men's Heavyweight division. Tyler was the first of seven Central Maine rowers from Littlefield's Gym who were all rookies to any rowing competition - let alone the world championships.
The
Crash-B World Championships have been held in Boston for many years and provided the perfect opportunity for all of the rookie rowers from the the gym to go down and find out what a rowing contest is all about. I'm sure we'll get some comments from them below but I will say there is nothing that feels quite like finishing a 2000m row with nothing left.
Way to go ladies! You got the mark!
Tracy and Lisa with the field at the start of the race.
You both left it all on the floor. Great efforts!
Get me off this thing!
Tracy and Lisa were second to race at 2:00 pm in the Lightweight Master Women's division (30-39). After making weight at noon, they relaxed, ate and then warmed up for their race. Tracy finished 17th with a time 9:25.6 and Lisa finished 18th with a time of 9:28.7. Congrats to you both on your first ever rowing competition. We were all proud of you and the efforts you put in as well as having the gumption to get out on the main floor and do the race!
With 7 entrants CrossFit Central Maine had the largest number of entrants of any
CrossFit affiliate in the world and represented the CrossFit Community well considering none of us have been rowing for more than 6 months!
After Tracy and Lisa finished, it was time for Bill to switch out of his coaching uniform and into competitor mode. With Wes as his Coxswain Bill pushed to a new PR time of 7:15.4, fourth place in his heat and shaved nearly 30 seconds off his previous race time of 7:43.0. Thanks Wes for the inspiration and steady coaching.
First pull of the race. 9 meters down!
Go time! 250 meters to go.
Bill's biding time before being able to stand.
The day finished up with a flurry! Debbie, Karen and Sarah all raced at 3:45 with Wes, Bill and Kendra as Coxswains barking inspiration. All three set new personal records. Sarah tied for 14th place in the Masters Women division with a 7:59.0, Karen took 14th in the Senior Master Womens division with a 8:09.1 and Debbie finished 30th in the Senior Masters Women's division with a 8:59.9. Way to beat that 9:00 mark Debbie!

Talk about 100% effort. Wow! Great work Debbie!
Sarah M was there and rowed just as hard as everyone else but on the other side of the arena. Sarah you're a great rower and let's hope the bronchitis stays away next year. Congrats on a new PR at the World Championships!
I know I speak for everyone when I say thanks to the entire
Littlefield family - Wes, Kendra, Wesley and Bodhi for coming to drive, coach and cheer for us all. It was invaluable to have your support and motivation before, during and after the races. The Clan grows stronger with every event and we appreciate all the extras you do for us.
